Signs Your DuraFlex Damper Repair Is Failing

• The handle turns but the plate doesn’t move. On DuraFlex systems, the linkage between the rotary control and the throat plate is a common failure point. The set screw loosens over thermal cycles, or the flat-bar linkage corrodes where Huntington’s salt air gets into the firebox through summer humidity.
• You feel a draft even when the damper is “closed.” The DuraFlex throat plate is stainless steel, but the frame seal is a woven gasket that compresses flat after a decade of heating and cooling.
